About Me
My approach
My consultancy brings together strategic insight and hands-on experience supporting volunteer-led and complex organisations across the UK. Volunteering has shaped both my career and my values. Over the past 14 years, I’ve worked alongside volunteers, managers and leaders across the voluntary sector -supporting organisations to design volunteering that works in practice as well as in principle. Again and again, I’ve seen the same thing: great volunteering doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when organisations are intentional about how volunteers are welcomed, supported, developed and valued. That belief sits at the heart of my consultancy work.
My experience
My experience spans national charities, education providers and membership organisations including Northumbria Students’ Union, Newcastle College, Whizz-Kidz, Volunteering Matters, CSSC, The Girls Network and NCVO. Across these roles, I have designed volunteer programmes, developed strategy and policy, supported complex federated volunteering models, and delivered training that enables staff and volunteers to feel confident in their roles.
How I work
I combine strategic thinking with practical delivery. My PRINCE2 Project Management qualification supports a structured, outcomes-focused approach, ensuring ideas translate into practical, sustainable change - but my work is always people-centred. I focus on finding realistic, sustainable solutions that strengthen volunteer experiences while helping organisations achieve their wider mission.
I’m also an experienced facilitator and trainer, designing bespoke learning that reflects the realities organisations face. Whether supporting teams through change, improving onboarding and retention, or helping organisations end volunteering well, my aim is always the same: to leave people feeling clearer, more confident and better equipped for the future.
Beyond consultancy
Alongside my consultancy work, I volunteer as Chair of the Board for a local rape and sexual abuse counselling centre. Volunteering remains an important part of my own life, grounding my work in lived experience as well as professional practice.
What connects everything I do is a commitment to equity, inclusion and systems change. I care deeply about creating opportunities where people feel they belong - whether that’s improving access for young disabled people, amplifying young people’s voices, or strengthening support for survivors.
I believe volunteering is powerful when it is thoughtful, inclusive and intentional - and I work with organisations to make that a reality.
